In his many successful years of professional
basketball, Coach Charles H. Williams has always emphasized striving for excellence.
He believes as long as athletes are
putting forth the effort and attempting to achieve new heights, success
can be realized. This process does not always mean that one will
always win, rather, it lays the foundation for future success for both
the individual and the team. "Everyone can be a success
because success directly relates to the amount of effort put into
realizing one's personal potential."
As a basketball coach, his vision is
now to "elevate" the minds of today's youth and assist them in
their transition through adolescence and on to healthy adulthood.
Coach
Williams believes children should be
directed to focus on skill mastery, and improving their overall attitude
and appreciation for the sports experience. He knows and
understands that "One can be elevated no higher than his
thinking." By following this principle, he has lived out what
is a dream for many and he continues to use this principle as the basis
for Elevate Your Game, Inc.
The
truth of "one can be elevated no higher than his thinking" was
taught to Coach Williams at an early age. Having experienced the frustration of
not having sufficient financial resources and an opportunity to develop
fundamental basketball skills, Coach Williams has a passion to assist today's
at-risk, economically disadvantaged youth.
He is a 19-year veteran
professional basketball player and coach and has played in the International Basketball
League and the Superior Basketball League in Puerto
Rico. Charles speaks fluent Spanish and has played professional
basketball in many countries including: Bahrain, Mid-east, Argentina,
Venezuela, Greece, Germany, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Puerto Rico
(where he currently holds an active resident player status.)
His basketball career has taken him around the world and back to
Texas to implement this powerful program that has made such a difference in the
lives of youth. His vision includes expanding the Elevate Your Game program nationwide and
ultimately opening a facility, Skybound Sports Center, to provide more comprehensive programs for
youth, exceptionally talented players and all those who are serious about
their performance and their game.
